Names (inspired by grandpa Dave)

In the Italian world names are no small deal. They mean everything. They are often handed down from generation to generation with out skipping anyone. Nobody used to have middle names in Italy, so it was a one shot deal. Nobody on my mom's side has a middle name until me and my brother. My mothers parents are named Angela and Nicola. My mothers name is Angela and has a sister, Filomenia and Vinchenzo. My fathers parents are John and Rose. John's father was names Giovanni (Italian john), and he is in a long line of John's. My fathers name is John. My brothers name is John Nicola (after both of our grandfathers). So in my house we have: John, Angela, Angela, John and oh yeah Stefanie Rose. Named after nobody in her first name, and her grandmother in her second. I guess thats all I have to say about names. Just that I am different, you cant deny it, its in my name.

I prefer to celebrate my differences - kind of like a snowflake. Snow is the same but each flake is unique.

I love your name...and I can see it being passed down to another special little girl with brown hair and big brown eyes.

Stefanie Rose...simply beautiful in every way:)

Being named after someone has it's angst, too, Stef.

My name, first and middle, came from my maternal and faternal grandmothers. Not all bad but... There is a certain twitch that I get now and then... they both died young(ish) of female-type cancers. And the year that my oldest son was four years old... I held my breath (LOL! Not literally!) all year! My father (who's name we gave to that oldest son) lost his dad in a freak accident when he was four. See what I mean?

Being different isn't a bad thing. It comes with no baggage of someone else's past. No one's life to live up to.

Onward, Stef! Make your OWN wonder and life! Hurray for different!!!! Unique? We all are, no matter what our names or where they came from!

Hugs!
A
